OCLC/RLG Metadata Framework to Support the Preservation of Digital Objects, June 2002
Based on a comparison and mapping between preservation metadata schemes developed by the National Library of Australia, Cedars, and NEDLIB and situated within the OAIS information model
Content Information includes the Content Data Object (I.e., the bit stream)
Representation Information includes descriptions of the object, together with hardware/software requirements
Provenance Information is organized on an event-based model, e.g., processes involved with migration or data ingest
Not all cases would require all metadata elements to be used, or used at the same level of granularity
PREMIS established in 2003 to investigate implementation issues in actual preservation systems
